Our History

For over a decade, our founder, John, has been at the forefront of revolutionising surgical administration. As a consultant surgeon, he recognised the inefficiencies and safety concerns inherent in traditional paper systems and disparate spreadsheets. His firsthand experience with these administrative challenges across various surgical teams fuelled his commitment to innovative software development, streamlining data recording processes not just for efficiency, but for enhanced clinical safety and effectiveness.

At Medical Systems Ltd, founded in 2020, we have transformed these insights into practical solutions. Our systems, now supporting four Health Boards in South Wales, exemplify the integration of prudent healthcare principles. In our inaugural year, we proudly secured the Welsh Health Hack project, extending our impact to surgical dermatology in two Health Boards.

We understand that surgeons’ primary focus should be on patient care, not cumbersome administrative tasks. Our approach prioritises the elimination of duplicated efforts and seamless integration with existing hospital management systems. This ethos not only reduces the time spent on data entry but also enriches the surgeon’s experience with a personalised dashboard. This dashboard empowers clinicians with actionable insights, fostering a culture of reflective practice and continual improvement in patient outcomes.
